The Silsbee Public Library was one the recipients of the Texas Book Festival Collections Enhancement Grant this past year. The grant award was for $2,500 and will be used to enhance the library's audio collection. The library was able to add 124 audio books as a result of obtaining the grant.
Since the Texas Book Festival’s founding in 1995, by First Lady Laura Bush, it has been a part of the organization’s mission to promote literacy and support Texas libraries. Each year, funds raised at the annual Texas Book Festival support grants that are distributed to libraries across Texas the following year. Since 1996, the organization has funded 1,305 grants totaling over $3 million to 600+ libraries in every corner of the state.
The Texas Book Festival awards grants to support collection enhancement for Texas public libraries. This funding enables libraries to share the diversity and breadth of literature with their entire communities. Funding comes from book sales at the Texas Book Festival and other generous donors.
The Texas Book Festival continues to champion the work of libraries and librarians across Texas and awarded 53 libraries for a total of $125,500!
The 26th Annual Texas Book Festival was held October 25-31, 2021. The Texas Book Festival Weekend is always free and open to the public and takes place in Austin, Texas, at the State Capitol and surrounding grounds. It is one of the largest and most prestigious literary festivals in the country, the annual Texas Book Festival features 250+ nationally and critically recognized authors, 20+ venues including the State Capitol, 100+ exhibitors, local food trucks, family activities, and countless opportunities to meet authors and fellow book lovers.
The Silsbee Public Library offers a full range of services for the whole family. In addition to great books and a large children's reading section, we offer a busy event calendar to help your children fall in love with reading and books!
Whatever you need can be found on our online card catalogue. We also offer public computers for your use whether it be work or play.
We have a beautiful meeting room that can be rented for meetings and small events.
The Friends of the Silsbee Public Library are the fundraising nonprofit organization that helps the library in it's mission. Their primary purpose is to promote the continuing growth and welfare of the Silsbee Public Library and to enhance the cultural life of the community.
